Hi, I'm Katey. Since 2010, I've worked in the fitness industry. I'm a certified Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer.
Through my own experience, I know that it can be difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle while pregnant, working and raising a family.
Even though I love working in the gyms, my true love is found in the sport of Triathlon.
Over the past several years, I've been featured in a TeleSummit for Moms, taught hundreds of classes in gyms and trained many women balancing self-care and families.
Growing Up Is Hard to Do...
I grew up in Southern California and yes, there we played on the beach, went to Disneyland and rarely put away our flip flops.
Unfortunately, puberty was not kind to me. Is it kind to anyone?
I started showing signs of PCOS (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) at age 14 but would have to wait for an official diagnosis until I was 23.
My physical challenges left me exhausted and emotionally drained. I turned to self-abuse and weight loss pills to help me cope.
Luckily, I found a love of sports. I became a competitive swimmer and played water polo during high school. I even coached a water polo team during my first year of college. I cherish those memories and loved competing. It exposed me to world with hardworking people, healthy habits and constructive hobbies.
After my first year of college, my involvement in sports faded away as my studies became more demanding. As my activity level plummeted, my weight skyrocketed.
In 2006, I met my sweet husband, Daniel. Soon after our marriage started, we started discussing our plans to start a family.
With my medical history, we knew that we needed help. We embarked on a long journey filled with fertility treatments, surgeries, doctors, tears and loss. We also experienced great joy with the success of an IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) cycle and had a beautiful girl.
The coming years would prove just as challenging with more fertility treatments and surgeries. So I turned to fitness again to help me cope with my stress. I even became a fitness instructor and started participating in races such as half-marathons and triathlons.
During 2012, we felt stuck. We had endured much pain through more fertility treatments and experienced more loss. I felt tempted to slip to my old BAD habits. I was depressed and felt myself slipping into a dark place.
I was frustrated because I already knew WHAT to do for my health. But I needed an extra push through accountability and simple plans.
I was able to find the help that I needed and have helped countless others in this hard journey of health.
I've become so passionate about health. For me, I love that healthy eating and exercise create a pathway to a better life!
Success won't come with body shaming and excuses. Many products thrive from telling women that they aren't enough.
That's not true. Each woman is strong. Each woman is amazing NOW!
